East Michigan Chapter

The East Michigan Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association provides you with a valuable resource for keeping current on developments in environmental rules, regulations, and technology in Michigan.  If you live or work in Eastern Michigan, this Chapter provides a multidisciplinary environmental forum for building leadership and advancing sustainability through professional development networking and education. The Chapter has traditionally included government regulators, researchers, educators, industry, consultants, and the general public.

The East Michigan Chapter is affiliated with the International Air & Waste Management Association, which was founded in 1907 and is a member of the East Central Section.  Like the International, the Chapter is a section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Membership in the International Association automatically provides you with membership in both the Section and the Chapter.  There are many other benefits associated with being a member of the International, please see the AWMA web site at http://www.awma.org.

Local Affiliate

Although we urge you to become a member of the International Association, you may want  to become an Associate of the Chapter if membership in the International Association is not a good fit for you at this time or you would like more exposure to the Air & Waste Management before you decide to join the International Association.  If so, please consider becoming an Affiliate of the Chapter.

Associate cost is only $30 ($10 per year for full-time students, subject to verification).  This payment provides you the following benefits:
  • Invitations to all Chapter outings, presentations and events
  • Discounts on auto and homeowners insurance through the ESD Affiliate Program
  • Chapter electronic newsletters containing information relevant to Michigan environmental professionals.
There are two convenient ways to become a local affiliate of the East Michigan Chapter.
  1. You can complete the on-line Local Affiliate Application. You can pay online with PayPal or you can opt to mail a check.
  2. You can apply at any of the Chapter meetings or events.
Local affiliate cost is on a calendar year basis. You will be among the first to receive invitations to chapter conferences and other chapter events.  All events are announced on the chapter website and by e-mail to members and local associates.

Please take moment to review the materials and join the many professionals that have made this Chapter the premier forum for environmental professionals in East Michigan.
